Paintings of Sailing Subjects: Introduction to My Work

I love sailing and sailboats!  I started sailing when I was a boy and won my first silver trophy cup when I was a teen. I started painting watercolors of boats when I was a boy and still enjoy it. I crew for owners of sailboats, and have raced on yachts as small as 20 feet and up to 50 feet. I have crewed on several long distance offshore races in the Pacific (when I lived in San Francisco). Art and Sailing are two of my passions in life. Here are a few examples of my work as a professional artist (painter). I have drawn and painted sailboats and other marine subjects in watercolors for about 44 years now. They are my favorite subjects in what I call my extensive "Art

My paintings can be printed in various sizes and on many things, such as: stretched canvases for wall display, soft throw pillows, prints for framing, t-shirts, and more,  Let me know what you would like. 

As you can see in this image, the original painting shows more of the boat, with the full mast and sail shown.  Sometimes I will crop a portion of the original painting in order to make an image 

Lighthouses are one of my favorite things to see when near the ocean. I have visited several around the USA, including climbing to the top when possible. I have studied their history, construction, and design.  I have depended on them when sailing offshore, when nearing a dangerous headland or reef.  As a sailor, I have great need of them and respect for them. I love them as a painting subject too
